Report of the Illinois Farm to School Survey Resultsby Prepared by the Master’s Program in Learning & Organizational Change at Northwestern University October 2010
This survey is the result of collaboration between the Illinois Farm to School network and the Master of Science in Learning and Organizational Change (MSLOC) program at Northwestern University. The survey was created to gather information that would assist Illinois Farm to School with the activation of new state legislation -- the Illinois Food, Farms, and Jobs Act -- which was signed into law in August 2009. This legislation established a goal of sourcing 10% of the food served in "state-funded institutions" from farms within the state of Illinois by 2020. The survey was distributed state wide and specifically sought to gather information from parents of K-12 school children, principals, teachers, food service directors/managers, superintendents and farmers.
Buying & Selling Local Foods
Farm Directby
Farm Direct features 600 growers and processors and 200 farmers markets who sell directly to consumers. While we have done our best to include all the producers and processors that meet the criteria, we've probably overlooked someone. If you are, or know of, such a person, please contact us at 217-244-8160 or asap@uiuc.edu. If the farm meets the criteria, we'll include you in the online directory and in next year's print directory.
