Maine Farms & Farmers
The following organizations have resources and information to help with your local Farm to School program.
Pineland Farms
Pineland Farms is a privately-owned working farm open to the public for exploration, recreation and education. While you're here, visit our working dairy, and poultry barns, and see cheese made in our own creamery. We also schedule educational and camp programs for children and events for family fun throughout the year.
For ease of distribution to schools, our products are available through Native Maine Produce and Specialty Foods (207.856.1100)
Wolfe's Neck Farm
Wolfe's Neck Farm (WNF) is an historic 626 acre, nonprofit, saltwater education and demonstration farm located on Casco Bay in Freeport, Maine. The Farm is dedicated to agricultural and environmental education, and community well-being through the enjoyment of the natural landscape. It is open to the public, free of charge, 365 days a year. More than 20,000 children and adults visit the Farm and participate in WNF programs annually, exploring the barnyard, farm buildings, and shoreline to learn about sustainable ways of living in Maine; we welcome school, civic and private groups.
Educational programs include School Vacation Camp, Seasonal Field Trips and Farm School, Farmer for the Morning, WNF Summer Camp, a Do-It-Yourself Series, and many seasonal activities including a winter lecture series. We've also recently initiated selective In-School Programming and the Green Energy Project, a new program for high school students. All programs may be customized.
Visitors come to WNF for many outdoor pursuits: hiking, painting, running, photography, swimming, bicycling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, canoeing, and camping (note that Recompence Shore Campground is part of the Farm). We welcome active participation in farm, field, garden, seaside, and woodland trail projects and maintenance opportunities. Our volunteers are invaluable!
Whether it is in the barn, pastures, gardens, forests, or wetland habitats, Wolfe's Neck Farm is a unique place to be inspired by the rhythms of seasonal life.
