Oregon Farms & Farmers

The following organizations have resources and information to help with your local Farm to School program.

Farmer-Chef Connection
The farmer-chef connection website lists almost 300 farmers, fishermen and ranchers who sell locally in Oregon and Washington. We also print a hard copy of this information as the Guide to Local and Seasonal Products for Oregon and Washington. We are happy to announce that the 2008 edition has 40 school districts listed as potential buyers.

Scott Schroeder, Chateau Lebeau Vineyards
I am working (voluntary basis) with Sherwood High School on a multi-year, "growing pizza from the ground up". We will raise and process wheat for flour, tomatoes for the paste, and make mozzarella cheese with help from local cheese guild. All will be organically raised to extent possible. Final goal is to serve the pizzas in the student cafeteria at SHS.
Students will plan, analyze, and report on the project from multi-discipline approach: economic, agricultural, energy analysis, and social (benefits and possibilities of locally produced food).
For more information contact me at 503-464-6585. Best regards, Scott Schroeder
