California Funding Opportunities

School Garden Grants Western Growers Foundation funds school fruit and vegetable gardens in California. Schools receive up to $1500, an irrigation kit provided by T-Systems, and a box of teacher resources. Deadlines for postmarked application are June 1 and November 15 of each year.

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program The CDE, through the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), will grant funds to school sites to provide students with a variety of free fresh fruit and vegetable snacks throughout the school day as a supplement to (and not part of) the school breakfast and school lunch programs, and to teach students about good nutrition. Public school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools are eligible to apply on behalf of elementary school sites that participate in the National School Lunch Program. An eligible school site MUST be an elementary school and have 50 percent or more of its students eligible for free or reduced-price meals.
