Massachusetts Farm to School Project

Farm-to-school transactions must be evaluated for good “fit” and positive value for both sides. The Mass. Farm to School Project provides technical assistance to Massachusetts farmers and schools as they attempt to find a good match. In the last four years, the Project has assisted more than 100 Mass. school districts and colleges and more than 40 farms in their farm to school procurement efforts, as well as worked with distributors and food service management companies. Statewide meetings on topics of interest to school food service directors, workshops for farmers, and an annual Mass. Harvest for Students Week are organized each year.

The Mass. Farm to School Project can be reached for consultation at 413-253-3844 or kelerwin@localnet.com. Initial sales evaluation materials for farmers and school food service directors, a local foods seasonal calendar, and promotional posters can be downloaded or are available from the Project.
