New Mexico Policies
New Mexico Food and Agriculture Policy Council
Initiated through citizen-based, grassroots activism, the NM Food and Agricultural Policy Council is a vehicle to work with public and private entities towards strengthening New Mexicans' access to high-quality food and strengthening the economy of New Mexico’s ranches, farms, and value-adding food processors.
As one of its projects, the New Mexico Food and Agriculture Policy Council works with the State Department of Education, agencies, and organizations providing agriculture and food education. The Council is working to help integrate agriculture/nutrition education into the schools for all students, make agriculture a high school elective, and encourage community school gardens along with curriculum design.
