NPI Mini-Coops for Organic Food Production
Needful Provision, Inc. (NPI) is organizing small, minority, and disadvantaged farmers into Mini-Coops for the production of an array of organic foods. (Each 5-farmer coop will primarily produce one organic food.) NPI operates a training center, in Cherokee Co., OK, to train farmers in innovative organic food production means using sustainable methods. We have one contract to provide foods for an organic school lunch program ---and two contracts pending to sell foods produced to organic food markets. We would like to hear from others engaged in similar projects.
