The Food System Economic Partnership
The Food System Economic Partnership (FSEP) is a non-profit collaboration of urban and rural community and business leaders that exists to catalyze change in the food system of a five county region of Southeastern Michigan. Through a grant from the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan, FSEP is coordinating a pilot farm to school project in three school systems, a large, contracted school district, a small, self-operated school district and an urban charter school. Through collaborations with food service directors, farmers, food distributors, school officials and other invested non-profits, the project is focusing on procurement issues, marketing and promotion of local farm products in the cafeterias, farm to school fundraisers and classroom activities.
