The Michigan State University Center for Regional Food Systems (CRFS) has been working to advance farm to school in Michigan for over a decade. We provide farm to school outreach, resources, technical assistance, research and policy education. We work collaboratively with regional and statewide partners to cultivate connections and programs across the state, including in early care and education (ECE) environments. We have learned from practitioners and programs in action how to make local food purchasing work for both buyers and sellers and take advantage of the diverse agricultural products our state has to offer. Our collective farm to school work pushes the boundaries of what's possible through innovative programs like 10 Cents a Meal, Cultivate Michigan, the MI Farm to School Grant Program, Hoophouses for Health, and Making Michigan Recipes Work. We seek to make farm to school the norm, not the exception, here in the Mitten state.
