New York Partners

NYSNA is a membership association with over 4,300 members statewide. Our membership includes school nutrition employees, managers, directors, registered dietitians, nutritionists, and industry members in New York State committed to ensuring that all students have access to healthy meals. We provide information, services, and continuing education to school nutrition and food service professionals in New York State. We sponsor conferences where attendees receive educational opportunities through workshops, speakers, and exhibits showcasing the latest innovative food service and nutrition trends. For over 15 years NYSNA has had a dedicated Farm to School Committee as part of the Board of Directors. NYSNA communicates through a monthly e-newsletter that reaches over 5,000 people, a quarterly publication that reaches every member, email blasts, and mailers.

NYSNA works closely with the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets to co-chair the Farm to School Coordinating Committee, and collaborates for the Farm to School Partnership Awards. The awards are given to districts that have stellar events during our yearly “NY Farm to you Fest”. Our advocacy efforts for the past three years have surrounded Farm to School by promoting our “Drive for 25” initiative. This initiative increases the state reimbursement rate for school meals to $0.25 for each school district that purchases 25% or more of its food from New York State farms.
