U.S. Virgin Islands  Partners

The Virgin Islands Farm to School initiative is building a comprehensive Farm to School Program. The goal is to link local producers with schools and increase the amount of locally sourced, culturally relevant products served in our schools. We desire to improve access to fresh and nutritious options for the territories youth. School-based gardens have played a significant role in our strategy to grow new eating patterns and increase student’s engagement in science, math, environmental, and agriculture education through school garden activities. At this time 50 percent of the schools in the territory have school-based gardens. Virgin Islands Good Food Coalition, in partnership with the Virgin Islands Department of Education and the Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture, is honored to lead the charge to build our territory's farm to school movement and serve our community in its quest for food system development and equity.
