National Farm to School Network (NFSN) defines farm to school coordinators as individuals that devote at least 50% of their role to F2S programming at an educational site. Their work focuses on the three primary farm to school pillars—local food procurement, school gardens, and education related to agriculture, food, health, or nutrition.

This tool outlines the benefits of having a dedicated farm to school coordinator position at a school district and summarizes data from our research with the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences at Colorado State University on the impact of farm to school coordinators. This guide is designed to be used to advocate for a farm to school coordinator position in school districts.
